Building Capacity: Introducing Ilianna

We have expanded the Team! Ilianna Ginnis has moved from being a VDD Studio volunteer to being Graduate Intern with Visionary Design Development. Ilianna has a B. Interior Arch (Hons) and a Cert IV in Disability. Ilianna is also currently undertaking her PhD at Monash University. As a spatial designer, a caregiver, and a sister, Ilianna’s PhD is motivated by the desire to fuse this lens to assist in the development of agency in space for persons with intellectual disability. Ilianna aims to explore design methodologies, including designers introducing alternative forms of non-verbal communication and communicating through behaviour, analysing domestic space with accordance to user behaviour, integrating a care plan and observation of user desires. By refining design methods, designers are able to increase integration and engagement.
